The challenge

The subject carries responsibility: persecution, the Holocaust and the memory of survivors can be neither sensational nor incidental. At the same time three novels, a podcast with more than 370,000 plays, an archive of witness interviews, reading dates and teaching material all had to come together in one place — maintainable without a developer, and without tracking services that would rule the site out for schools.

Our solution

We built a Next.js site with a historical editorial design: serif type, muted paper and sepia tones, archive material as the visual language. The trilogy opens up volume by volume, every character gets a profile of their own, and research and witnesses each have their own section alongside an impressions gallery and a blog. All content comes from a headless CMS; the site embeds no external services and sets no cookies — the notice is stored locally in the browser.
